Hypnotherapy is over three times more effective than nicotine replacement therapy for smoking cessation

A study compared smoking cessation rates between groups that used hypnotherapy (a 90-minute session), hypnotherapy with nicotine replacement and nicotine replacement only.

Analysis of the results showed that the groups using hypnotherapy were over three times more likely than the group using nicotine replacement to abstain after 6 months.

In the 2017/18 financial year, I saw over 400 Smokers.

I asked  each client how many cigarettes that they smoke.  Now,  that number ranged from 5 per day to 60 per day.

Out of all the people I saw in this period  the average smoker smoked 25 per day, so lets call it a packet a day.

At the time of writing this (July, 2018) the average packet of cigarettes cost $27, so that's $189 per week! (some people pay less, some people pay more)

So based on these figures the average smoker spends approximately $9,828 per year, every year....and rising.

In May 2016 the federal government announced that it will increase the tobacco excise by 12.5 per cent a year for the next four years.

The plan will cause the price of a packet of 25 cigarettes to rise to about $40 by 2020, which will then cost the average smoker $480 per week, which equates to a hefty $14,560 per year!!!!

A question that I occasionally get asked is this:

"Can you guarantee me that your hypnosis session will make me stop smoking?"

"I see some hypnotherapists/businesses who boast on their websites that they can!!!!! 

"If you have been searching for help to quit smoking perhaps that rings bells...if not, it should!!!!, 

"So, let's get to the question.

If you ask me if I can guarantee that MY hypnosis sessions will make you stop smoking?


"I would reply, "Absaloutley not!!!!!.....

that not only is it against any kind of advertising legislation (illegal and misleading according to the ACCC)  but that also it would be very unethical,

"I would tell you that  I can't sprinkle fairy dust (just being pragmatic) and that it will take some work on your side.  I tell clients that they must be determined and have made the decision that they want to stop, before seeing me.

Many of my clients first wondered, “is hypnosis right for me?” . You've heard it helps, perhaps you even know someone that has been successful after seeing me.

I get asked this a lot! Is Hypnosis like meditation?

Meditation is much more passive in its effectiveness compared to Hypnosis which is more targeted and active in the benefits it can provide you, the client.

Sometimes I feel like I would like to change the word Hyponosis or at minimum educate people in what it really is…Thanks to mainstream media for making people think that Hypnotherapists can make you cluck like a chicken!!!

The main difference between Hypnosis & Meditation is that Hypnosis is Meditation with the addition of Suggestions. Ie: You hate smoking…You love being a non-smoker.

Both Meditation and Hypnosis are deeply relaxed states.
